The restaurant was near Sloan's home at the time at 165 West 23rd Street, bordering the Tenderloin . The scene date of winter 1909 - " a girl dressed in a flashy, arrogant with red feathers on his hat, playing with the big cat in the restaurant ... it would make a good topic "(1) Three weeks later he returned to the restaurant to" refresh his memory "(2): he started his painting.
